Children's Bicycles

The bicycle, colloquially called a bike, is a human-powered personal transportation vehicle. It is driven by the traveler himself, who operates the vehicle with the muscular effort of the legs, in particular by means of pedals or cranks.

Its basic components are two wheels generally of equal diameter and arranged in line, a pedal transmission system, a frame that gives it the structure and integrates the components, a handlebar to control the direction and a saddle to sit on. The displacement is obtained by turning with the legs the symmetrically arranged pedals, each one with a lever known as a crank are assembled in the frame, and in general the right pedal is the one with the largest star or plate where the chain is mounted which in turn rotates the pinion, which finally rotates the rear wheel on the ground, causing displacement. The basic design and setup of the bicycle has changed little since the first chain drive model developed around 1885.

The paternity of the bicycle is attributed to Baron Karl Drais, a German inventor born in 1785. His rudimentary artifact, created around 1817, was propelled by resting the feet alternately on the ground. Today there are more than a billion bicycles in the world, used both as a means of transport and as a vehicle for leisure.

It is a healthy, ecological, sustainable and economical means of transport, valid for traveling both in the city and in rural areas. Its use is widespread in most of Europe, and it becomes, in countries such as Switzerland, Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium, some areas of Poland and the Scandinavian countries, one of the main means of transport. In Asia, especially China and India, it is the main mode of transport.

Bicycles were very popular in the 1890s and, later, in the 1950s and 1970s. Currently it is experiencing a new boom and its use is growing considerably around the world due to the high price of fuel, since the bicycle is very ecological and economical.
